Paramount Group Showcases Mbombe Family of Infantry Combat Vehicles at AAD 2016

African-based global defence and aerospace company, Paramount Group, unveiled its Mbombefamily of Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs) at the recently held AAD 2016 expo, in South Africa. This was the first time, the Mbombe vehicle range which is made up of the Mbombe 4 (Marauder XT in certain markets), Mbombe 6 and Mbombe 8 were showcased together. Making its maiden appearance in Africa was the largest of the range, the Mbombe 8.


Saab Bags U.S. Navy Shipboard Air Traffic Radar Order

The U.S. Navy has placed an order with Saab USA for delivery of the AN/SPN-50 (V)1 Shipboard Air Traffic Radar. This is the first award for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the programme. As part of the award, three radars will be initially procured over a four-year period.


Saab Signs RBS 70 NG Delivery Contract

Defence and security company Saab, has announced the conclusion of a new contract for the delivery of its new RBS 70 NG VSHORAD (very short range air defence system). Saab will supply the latest version of the RBS 70 NG, along with provision of longterm maintenance and support for the advanced air defence system, as part of the SEK 378 million order.


The Battle Tank Celebrates a 100 Years

September 15, marked a 100 years since the battle tank was first introduced into modern warfare by the United Kingdom. On that day, 100 years ago, during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette, the British Army sent tanks into battle for the first time in history as part of the Somme offensive. As part of the celebrations, a replica of a British First World War tank was displayed in Trafalgar Square.


India Signs Rafale Deal

India has signed an inter-governmental agreement (IGA) with France to directly purchase 36 Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft. The deal was concluded in New Delhi by Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian, who is currently in India.
